Matisse Cutout Style

This is my version of a Matisse Cutout.

I used different hues in the monochromatic shade of blues with patterns.

The darker shades create a feeling of a dark interior and creates a level of warmth to offset the cooler lighter shades of blue in the snow outside. 

The window is my transition via color and hue between the two.

Contour Line Drawing

                                      Here is my contour line drawing of my painted shapes.

Volume And Plane

                                       Here are my examples of volume and plane.

                          The first medium is charcoal,  the second is a brown conte crayon.

                                        The window picture above is my organizational line drawing.

                                         This bookshelf picture is my continuous line drawing.
                                          It was fun to begin with, but quickly became tedious.

                                          Top puppy is my scribble line gesture picture.
                                  Bottom puppy picture is a gesture picture that shows motion.
                                         I found that I really liked drawing motion pictures.

                                 The remote control and the book show my contour line drawing.
                                 This was a neat, very clean sort of drawing, and I loved drawing this style.

                                                  This girl shows my sustained gesture drawing.

Painted Shapes

Here are my painted still-life shapes.
I didn't have a lot of fun painting these.
I dislike getting my hands full of anything messy - especially paint!

So naturally, I found that painting the round ball was essentially a virtual nightmare!

I did like the feel of painting the cylinder most of all. I had stripped the label off the can, and was left with cardboard, and it was very satisfying feeling the paint absorb into it, and go on thicker than with some of the other objects.
The ball had a plastic finish and because of that slippery surface - the  paint kept having trouble coating it layer by layer.

Again...I think the ball shape is ***doomed!!*** to be my nemesis as we move forward!

Ideal Drawing

Here are two examples of my ideal in drawing: Currier and Ives.

The sharp clean lines create contrast, as in a photograph, that brings the pictures to life.
The warm homey feeling you get from a Currier and Ives picture is conveyed to the viewer even without any color. I find that truly amazing.
